The Characterisitcs of Texts Inspired By The Holy Spirit
Below are the characteristics that will help you identify scriptures and books inspired by the Holy Spirit:
- Liveliness
Writings inspired by the Holy Spirit are usually very lively. The liveliness enlivens the reader such that he does not feel tired.
28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:63-64
- Appetizing
The more you read the text, the more you would like to read on. You may decide to read just a few pages, only to discover that you have read several pages. You may choose to read for 30 minutes, only to discover that you have read for hours.
- Simplicity
A divinely-inspired content is normally written in very simple statements. It is not like the professional books, which are filled with technical terms that confuse the ordinary man. For example, compare legal documents with God’s commandments in the Bible. While the former is full of confusing words and phrases, the latter specify laws in very simple statements.
At times, professionals think that technical terms enhance their prestige, whereas such terms constitute hindrances and burden to the masses.
Of what use is a paper, when people cannot understand what is written in it? And of what use is a law, when the citizens cannot interpret it by themselves?
- Clarity
A book written with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is usually very clear. It is not ambiguous, except where parables are necessary.
- Refreshing
Text of Holy Spirit refreshes the body, mind, soul and spirit of the reader. The reason is that the word of God embodies cleansing power. The power is a consuming power, which the evil spirits cannot withstand. They evil spirits, demons and ghosts run away from the fire. As the evil spirits flee from the fire in the word, the reader is delivered from bondage, possession and burden. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” - "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrew 4:12
- Real-Time Experience
As you read the books, you have a real time spiritual experience of what is written in it. You feel as if you were present during the event or as if the person is talking with you physically. The reason is because God’s word is God. When you hear His word, God Himself is directly talking to you.
The same word of God is Jesus Christ, and the word of Holy Spirit is also Holy Spirit.
- Truthfulness
What the spirit says is true. You see or feel the truth in what you are reading. One characteristics of truth is that it is non-contradictory. One statement of truth does not contradict another statement of truth.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…
Ephesians 6:14-19
